Manage a Member's Seat Type and Access

Change an active member's seat type between Contributor and Leader, and grant or remove their access to individual boards.

Open in Everview

Each member's own settings page is where you change their seat type and control which boards they can see.

Member statuses and seat types

The Members list shows every member's status — Active, Pending (invited but not yet accepted), or Inactive — and filter tags for how many are Leader, Contributor, and Admin. There are only two seat types, Leader and Contributor — no Guest seat type exists.

Change a member's seat type

  1. Open Members from the Organization Menu and click a member to open their settings.
  2. Under Seat Type, toggle between Contributor and Leader.

If your organization doesn't have a spare seat of the new type, a confirmation dialog offers to add one before applying the change.

Grant or remove board access

The Board Access section lists which boards this member can see. If the member is an org admin, this section instead says they have access to all boards — admins can't be restricted to specific ones. Otherwise, use Add Board Access to grant access to another board, or Remove Access next to any board to revoke it.

What to do about it

To remove someone from the organization entirely, use Remove Member (or Cancel Invitation for a still-pending one) in the Danger Zone at the bottom of their settings page — this asks you to confirm before it takes effect.
