Click a collaborator's floating avatar beside the prompt bar to open a quick 1:1 chat with them.

Everyone currently viewing your workspace shows up as a floating avatar bubble beside the prompt bar. Bubbles appear and disappear automatically as people open and close the workspace — there's nothing to turn on.
Send a message
- Click a teammate's avatar bubble. It expands into a text box with a scrollable history of your conversation with them, loading your most recent messages automatically.
- Type your message and press Enter to send. The box stays open so you can keep chatting.
- Click the avatar again, or click elsewhere, to collapse it back to a bubble.
Unread messages
A bubble you haven't opened gets a colored ring when a new message arrives, and nudges with a small bounce every so often until you open it. Opening the chat clears both.
Rearrange the strip
Scroll, or drag the empty space around the bubbles, to move people between the left and right side of the prompt bar.
What to do about it
This is the fastest way to reach one teammate directly without leaving the canvas. To bring someone into your conversation with Ask Ever instead of a 1:1 chat, drag their same avatar bubble onto the prompt bar — see Invite a Teammate into an Ask Ever Conversation.
